D.J. Describes Eternity

what started as a noble experiment continues as a stream-of-consciousness weblog of tiny victories and lucid distraction.

Do I need the internet? Or maybe just a change of scenery?

So, I have a confession to make.

A few months back, as an experiment, I decided to quit the internet (with the exception of monitoring my fantasy baseball team, mock football drafts and watching Mets games on MLB.tv). This meant no posting on Tumblr and MetsBlog, no writing about music, no wasting time on Facebook and MySpace. Nope, instead, I decided to focus on my job in the hopes that I would be more productive.

The results were interesting:

I’ve found myself less inspired, more irritable, more stressed and worst of all, more cynical. In short, I have become everything that I didn’t want to be.

This situation has brought me to a crossroads. The easy answer would be that I need to return to my creative outlets. But I fear that may only be a temporary band-aid on my psyche. The bigger jump would be the impulse that has been beckoning me my whole life; move to the greater NYC area. Truth be told, working in Delaware is not so exciting. I feel like my life since college has been one dramatic pause while I wait for my real life to begin. I need NYC in my life. I can feel it. Just a matter of doing it.

Sorry for boring you with this post, but it feels good to make up for lost Tumblr-time.

Not sure if you caught this last night, but if you look closely behind Sen. Obama, you will see three dudes wearing Abercrombie & Fitch t-shirts. Now, I’m not sure if this just happened to be three douchebags wearing A & F t-shirts, or if Abercrombie & Fitch paid to be placed there. If they did, I’m going to have to seriously reconsider my support of Sen. Obama’s campaign.
